Our experience with Mansfield Sanitation was extremely unsatisfactory from start to finish. We contacted them for help locating a septic tank. The appointment was originally scheduled for September 9, 2025, but the technician was over four hours late so we agreed to reschedule for the following day. At no point during scheduling or in any prior conversation was there mention of a minimum charge. When the technician arrived he was unable to scope the tank. He then used a metal detector, had us mark it ourselves with spray paint, and left —he was here for well under 30 minutes. We were handed a $320 bill, and only then were told there was a two-hour minimum charge. The charge felt extremely excessive for the amount of work performed and was not transparent prior to the visit. I reached out on September 10 by phone and was told someone would return my call. No one ever did. I followed up by email the same day and again on September 16 — both messages were ignored. The only response we received was an invoice in the mail. I paid the full amount and included both emails and a letter explaining the situation with the check in case it was oversight- see attached. Mansfield cashed the check but still never responded. This experience was deeply disappointing — not only due to the outrageous cost for minimal work and the lack of care shown by leaving a mess for us to clean up, but mostly because of the complete lack of communication and disregard to our concerns afterward. We expected far better communication and customer service from a company we’ve trusted before. Sept 10 - Email. Dear Mansfield Sanitation Team, I’m writing to express my disappointment with a recent visit. We had specifically asked for a technician to come out to help us locate our tank as we prepare to build an addition and to evaluate the leech bed, as we know it will require attention this year. The technician was here for approximately 15 minutes, used a metal detector to locate the tank, we marked it ourselves, and then left. We were surprised to be charged $350 for this visit. The technician mentioned there was a two-hour minimum charge, but this was never disclosed to us prior to scheduling or at any point before the visit. That lack of transparency is very frustrating. We have used your company in the past and had fully planned on continuing with you for the necessary work on both the leech bed and the septic system as we know it needs repaired this year. However, being billed such a high fee for such a short visit has left us hesitant about continuing our business relationship. I wanted to bring this to your attention directly, as we value straightforward communication and fair service, and we hope this can be addressed. Edinboro, PA 16412 Subject: Dispute Regarding Invoice Charges and Lack of Communication Dear Mansfield Sanitation, Attached is the invoice for recent services. While we are submitting payment, we want to express our disappointment regarding the charge for a 2-hour minimum, which was not clearly communicated to us prior to the service. We attempted to get clarification by phone and email but received no response. I called your office on September 10, 2025 and left a message, and followed up via email on September 10 and again on September 16. Unfortunately, none of these efforts received a reply. We have used Mansfield Sanitation in the past and have even referred clients to your company. However, the lack of transparency regarding billing and the absence of any response to our multiple inquiries has been frustrating and unprofessional. While we are paying this invoice, this experience has caused us to reconsider using or recommending your services in the future.

Had an appointment for 9 am. They called and said they were running late 45 min before they were supposed to be there which was fine. Called me back at 10:50 saying there would not be able to be there until 1. Wasted half of my day as I had to leave to go out of town and numerous other things to do. If you have nothing else to do with your time, I guess it’s a great place to deal with. An appointment is an appointment, the other job they went to was not scheduled but an emergency job and they left at 7 am for it knowing they had an appointment at 9.

I asked for a tech and was told it was a free estimate. Instead they sent a pump truck (no tech) and charged me a $275 fee. Had them complete the $3,500 repair which for some reason included them moving my washing machine. Upon inspection found my dryer vent unhooked, washing machine drain leaking on the floor, as well as scratches all over my floor. They did bury my tank lid for free though, so at least I get to do my own labor to find it again.

We are new to the area, having recently purchased a home here. We called Mansfield to have our septic system pumped. Jose came out the next day and he was just great. Friendly, upbeat, knowledgeable, articulate, professional. He answered our questions about the plumbing system in our new (to us) home, and gave suggestions about how best to maintain it. Mansfield is our septic and plumbing company. Thank you, Jose. -Paul and Sue EDIT: Adrian came out to troubleshoot some things and inspect, and try to make operational, a clogged basement drain. It was a wet rainy day and he'd been on a muddy job prior. He was conscientious about tracking in the house and a good sport about wearing plastic bags over his boots (his idea). He/we worked with camera and pressure hose, pick and shovel, to find and clear out the drain pipe. Thar she blows! (see pic). I now have a functional sink in the basement. Mansfield was responsive, next day again, and charge was appropriate. Thanks again folks. -Paul Edit: Crew came out (next day!) to troubleshoot our overflowing tank. They had the right equipment and quickly found and repaired the buckled pipe. They then exposed leach field components, assessed the situation and explained the options well. This is a professional outfit. They know what they are doing, have the right equipment, are efficient, courteous, and honest. Pleased to have these folks to call on when needed. -Paul

Super-fast service & hardworking crew. Very glad we decided to go with them for our septic repair. It saved us a lot of money in the long run.
