The receptionist was quite helpful and gave me great direction for my concern.

The Erie County Bar Association is the best place to find an attorney in Erie, PA. This organization has been offering lawyer referral services to Erie citizens looking a qualified attorney for almost as long as Erie, PA itself has been around. The staff of the ECBA is incredibly knowledgeable, compassionate and patient with anyone who has a need for legal services. Let me be clear, however, the ECBA lawyer referral service is not the place for free legal counsel or a free attorney. You're thinking of Northwestern Legal Services, which offers Legal Aid. Legal Aid is where you go for a court-appointed attorney - the Erie County Bar Association is where you go to be matched with a specialized attorney that will handle your case. The service also requires a super small down payment that I think almost any attorney will reimburse if you retain them to handle your case. In the end, I can not recommend a better location for lawyer referral. Do not be fooled by web-based matching services - no website will ever contain the first-hand knowledge about Erie attorneys like the Erie Bar. They know the community, they know the lawyers, they know the issues. Sorry folks, but Avvo will never be able to function in this fashion. Highly recommended :)
