Claim it freePenelec is a trusted electrical provider serving the greater Erie area. With a commitment to quality, they deliver reliable electrical services to residential and commercial customers throughout Erie, Millcreek, Harborcreek, Fairview, and surrounding communities.
Erie's aging housing stock, particularly in Downtown, Little Italy, and East Erie, often requires electrical panel upgrades and rewiring to meet modern safety standards. Pennsylvania Act 1 mandates that all electrical work be performed by a licensed electrician. Lake-effect storms frequently cause power outages, driving demand for generator installation and surge protection across Erie County.

Bills are confusing. Make you pay more than what is owed. If you accidentally get confused on what to pay, they make you pay a $1000 security deposit. When trying to contact customer service about the security deposit, they make you wait 2 hours, then disconnect when on the call. They do call back, but no one is on the line. It's ashame they can get away with such poor customer service and are held hostage to their ridiculous fees and rates

Penelec misdelivered a shutoff notice to my house for someone else. I called their customer support line to let them know after I delivered it to the correct address for them. Their customer support rep did not care at all. When I explained the situation they told me to just throw it away and didn’t event want to know who’s notice was misdelivered. The rep even said something along the lines of “it doesn’t matter, they’ll just call us once their power is shut off.” Note that it is the middle of winter and there’s 6 inches of snow outside. This shows how little Penelec actually cares

It took penelec less than 6 hours to come and hook 2 commercial units meters up backwards but 6 months and still havent fixed the billing that's backwards. I have over 30 hours on the phone attempting to fix it begging to get to speak to 3 different commercial department supervisors...still nothing. Maybe reading a bad review will help or the next step is get my lawyer involved since my bill is 500.00 and theirs is over 17,000. Penelec doesn't care about businesses! Update: laywer involved! Will keep updating to help anyone else looking for answers.

Never received statements. Didn’t know my electricity bill was due/past due. No notice for shut off. 2-3 hour wait times to get in contact with someone. Then I had to pay a reconnect fee and they are requesting a deposit although they are at fault for the disconnection. Agents cannot not assist in any way and referred me to PAPUC to file a complaint which I did.

Trashiest Energy company with horrible customer service. 48 hour shut off notice non existent. I live in a house with someone on oxygen an the power gets shut off. Sit on phone for 3 hours, this company is nothing but a scammers. Wish we could get some utility companies that aren't out for themselves
