Just had the WORST mechanic experience with these guys. Window wouldn’t roll up all the way. Wanted to see if they could fix it, what the cost would be. Normally shops call once they see what the issue is and give an estimate… not this one!! Nope they order parts and start doing labor and just expect you to be okay with a $467 bill you didn’t agree too! This is after having to play 20 questions regarding how much the motor cost “I don’t know” how much would the work be “I don’t know” can I get a rough estimate “I don’t know hold on”. Insane. Truly insane. Most people don’t have $500 to just drop on a whim especially without at least being given the opportunity to say yes or no. When I told them I didn’t have the money Don asked if I wanted them to put the old motor in and give it back, I said yes. Asked when the car would be ready and I got another “I don’t know.” When I picked up the car, they had the window rolled down even more than when I left it and it rained that night. Could have easily left it up but they chose not to even though the car would be left out in the rain on their east side lot. Not only that but they put the door panel on wrong leaving the rubber padding hanging and some tar substance on my runner that was NOT there before. I’m horrified and dumbfounded by the way they acted. If you need work done on your Subaru just wait until you can get out to Panama NY and have Finn’s do it for you. As Pat said, “it ain’t gonna be no $500”.

Don, I would like to thank for going above and beyond with Julian’s car and taking your time to check it out thoroughly knowing he’s going across the country to OR for college. It means a lot to me and my wife knowing he has a very safe vehicle. Truly thanks Don and crew.

This garage is the best I have ever gone to. They are trust worthy to do the job right! They will find the problem even if it is not the usual thing that cars have problems with. They don’t charge you as much to do the jobs as other places I have gone to. You can depend on the job to be done right the first time and the price to be charged only for what they do. They always let you know if the cost is more than what you think it is going to cost and explain why it is so high! It you want great work and price then this is the place!!!

This shop is the best experience. My truck was misdiagnosed by 2 other shops and the check engine light/grinding sound would go away when the shop had my truck. These guys actually took the time to listen to my experience with my truck, to drive it in multiple ways and to discover the issue the way I said it responded and to fix the issue in a fair and honest way. If they hadn't done this, I would have been in deep trouble because I drive long distances in areas often without cell service. This issue would have destroyed my engine/truck and cost me thousands, if not my truck itself. They were honest, professional, fair and decent. They are busy though.

Wow just found my new mechanic! Old neighborhood shop went out of business, found Don with Barber Auto Repair. Had two cars inspected, fast, professional , friendly and fair. Will be recommending him and his shop to family and friends.
